My New neigbourhood
So I was looking to manifest a new address. I wanted somewhere where I could relax, have good friends close by, cycle to cool places easily, and have it nice and warm. Well I ended up living in a place where not only is it too far to cycle, its even too far to drive. Yes my friends, I fly to do cool things. I'll fly to NY to see my pal fern, I’m flying to San Fran for a beautiful rendezvous, I’m flying to Canada (BC) to see great friend, I’m flying to LA to meet a friend I have not meet yet and I just flew home to my parents to pick up a few things. That’s not cycling. Why do i do this, because i live in the south west USA. But not just any part of the south west, I live in Pheonix. AZ.
When I told my dad, he said "Oh thats where the sherif keeps prisoners in tents and feed them for less than the patrol dogs" I m always supprised how my dad knows this stuff yet on this occasion i doubted him. Even though he is always right, this time i thought he cant be, no one can force a nother person to live in a tent in a desert. Well take a look
Ok, now steeping away from the light... i would say, Phoenix is basically like living in the countryside except it’s made of concrete. So it has none of the benifits of the country side and none of the benefits of the city. The nearest shop is 1 mile. That’s not a lot except when you realize most of that is car park. Everything else is 10 miles away. I spend a lot of my time cruising in kamis car as if I’m going away on bank holiday weekend to brighton or cornwall, except were just going to buy some celery from whole foods!
It's a great climate though, if your a reptile! If i ever wake up too cold to hunt for food i can simply roll outside onto the 120 degrees F tarmac and wait till, oh! about 9am, where by its hot as most other places' mid-days.
Funny thing is right now it suits, I’m writing a lot, working on some music and organizing myself for the next chapter in this marvelous, ceaseless adventure. Plus, I really am traveling around my new neighborhood (the USA ) like I did around London on the tube (underground) It can take an hour or so to get to most places thier too.
So it works out well. Plus Kami is the best room mate ever and that’s what really matters about where you live, the people. And as Kami is the only person I ever see in phoenix, despite it being the 4th largest city in the USA, the 'people' here are amazing!
